SGT Project Management

In complex environments, we have been working with a methodology to make our solution as easy as possible to integrate. It is easy to understand the steps, milestones, objectives and warnings that need to be addressed to make the project a success.

Project launch

A typical SGT project starts with the assignment of a dedicated project manager after which, together with the client we launch the project at a Kick off Meeting. This exercise allows the project team, including our customer and partners to set the milestones for the project and to identify any potential risks.

Specification

At this stage we translate the client’s requests and business requirements into detailed specifications. Taking into account the client’s process description and desired level of functionality SGT consultants will design the workflow and identify the required interfaces. SGT owns a library of nearly 300 interfaces to control or communicate with third party equipment. Nevertheless new drivers are coming out every day and existing drivers may need to be updated on a continual basis. Any development needed for the project is scheduled at this time. All other project steps will be planned in detail as well and we will create a comprehensive list of equipment needed to run the VEDA™ suite. Once the specification is validated development, personalisation and integration are launched.

Factory Integration

The first level of validation with the customer takes place during the factory integration. SGT consultants setup and test the workflow we have built in our integration room to validate everything runs fine in a simulated environment. It may happen that we test the whole configuration with equipment provided by the customer making the factory integration even more reliable. We will integrate the client’s workflow at the SGT premises and create an acceptance document. Using this document as a base we walk together with the client through an acceptance procedure in order to demonstrate and validate all steps defined in the workflow. Having met the requirements, acceptance of the factory integration is accorded with a signature. That will launch the site integration procedure.

On-site integration

The last and final step before onsite testing and going “on Air” is the on-site integration This step can start once the customer site is ready to “receive” SGT team. This means that all work by the client, partners and system integrators to install equipment, finish the wiring and get the network up and running is completed. Once the site is validated, SGT experts can start to install the configuration accepted by the “factory integration” including all devices and equipment. The VEDA™ server and clients are installed at this point.

Workflow testing

After a final test and validation of the entire installation, both hardware and software, testing of the workflow according to the factory acceptance document begins. Additionally we will stress the system and perform a system load test.

Acceptance

Upon a successfully completed workflow test, we will demonstrate the entire workflow according to the acceptance document. Finally, the site acceptance procedure which is similar to factory acceptance procedure is kicked off. Following the acceptance script we will go through all workflow steps together with the client to validate that we delivered what was on the specification.

Start production – ON-AIR

At this stage training is given and users will be guided throughout the first period of operations. Naturally there is SGT’s support and maintenance team to fall back on in accordance with the support plan that has been chosen.
